Hello? I have played this game many times and it's great (With great platforming and combat with well put boss fights) but it seems that some elements are not implemented . Like the charm system or the nail upgrades in Deep Docks . Also one of the doors is unopenable in Deep Docks too. Is this intentional or not? Love your demake of silksong -A queer fellow
I looked at all the footage of the demo that I could find, and replicated it in my "demake" (I don't think it's technically a demake lol). I never saw anyone unlock that door so yes, it's intentional. I also don't think I saw anyone use any charms or upgrade the nail. And I felt the demake was too small for upgrades to really make sense to implement. As for other missing features such as abilities (I think the silk spear at least was in the demo), I simply didn't feel like implementing them lol. If you're thinking of audio too, I tried making some sound effects with some free online tool, but it just didn't sound right and I gave up.
Thanks for replying! It seemed like it wasn't easy making the game but I'm glad how it turned out . Do you have any other games in the making ? Or did you just made this demake for fun and won't make any other games in the future ?
No worries :) And no, I don't have any games I'm working on, but that will change soon, as I have a game dev course this semester. I might release something from that course here, but I don't know.
Sorry for the late reply. I only have a wired xbox controller, so I was only able to test with that. My previous computer that I made this with stopped charging, and I failed to upload the files to the cloud. Therefore I am unable to look into it, sorry.
With Hollow Knight I got used to jump with Z, attack with X, dash with C and heal with A.
If you feel the same - you can easily remap your keys. Just install AutoHotKey, create a file called silksong-dm.ahk, insert the four lines below in that file, save it and run it. Don’t forget to stop the script after you’re done playing.
I freaking love the snappy feel when you grab the ledges. controls are great too and mechanics where upward and down attacks are telegraphed well. boss fight is fair but challenging too. i made a demake of this too for the original gameboy and gameboy color, its a bit terrible compared to this but its faithful to the hardware its made for. https://elvies.itch.io/silksongdemake
when the wait becomes painful and the Game Awards come to drain us, a hero arrives with a neat pixel art demake
i liked it, i just didn't finish the Lace fight bc i got tired lol, but it's a pretty good boss fight for a little project that, and i hope its not insensitive to say, i don't imagine you spent the longest time on

do you know why my game ticks much faster? the enemies and everything move very quickly (im also running this on wine)
It could be that wine sets the framerate to 60fps, while the original framerate is 30fps.
Will you add gamepad support and put on steam?
I just added gamepad support :)
It's an unofficial demake, so I don't think I can put it on Steam.
maybe try game jolt
I really liked it, very fun period

u are a true hero!
how come dash can only be used in the room before the moss boss? its such a fun ability plz add it to the other areas
That is a bug. It should only be available in Deep Docks(second level in the menu). You can use it there as much as you want :)
o ok thank you
very polished, just need more audio stuff
I'm not able to hit play. :(
Really want to play though.
You have to use the keyboard. Press either space, enter, X or K :)
I love this game its so fun and it feels like i'm playing the actual game
